Faith

Faith

In my mind, ‘Faith’ is another one of those words that can lend itself to be troublesome for a Christian. As I wrote earlier, the word believe recognizes that there is some doubt as to whether something is real. But faith, for some reason, seems to has a little stronger connotation of reality.

Faith, besides having a generic definition of “belief that is not based on proof”; as in ‘I have faith in your decision’. Faith also has an accepted use as “a system of religious belief” such as ‘Chrisitan Faith’ or ‘Jewish Faith’. Establishing that the word Faith is used internationally, accepted, and understood.

In my mind, it all boils down to your inner religious being. Is your faith a part of you or just an outer shell on Sundays? Do you actually know that your faith can change the outcome of an event or activity? Can you point to situations where, without effort, the circumstances surrounding you became more bearable for no apparent reason?

My faith has been challenged many times over the years. It has made me look inside myself and evaluate the difference between what I believe and what I know to be true. I have recognized how my faith has changed me to be a more compassionate, accepting person who recognizes that not everyone has the same system of convictions, and be willing to share mine and listen to theirs. My faith has changed me.

In the past few weeks, I have also observed what faith can do in others. I have seen how faith has enabled Suzanne to accept the situation she was faced with and better deal with the outcome. I have recognized how faith has worked in this woman and allowed her to adapt and overcome the challenges she was forced into during and now after her treatments. And it will be her faith that carries her through to a successful outcome. AMEN

And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.
