Now What?

Now What?

For the past seven weeks, we had planned that today was supposed to be Suzanne’s last radiation treatment. Since her doctors were able to double up on one last week, we get today off. In fact, we get the rest of the week off, and even more.

From here on, our schedule is dictated by time. First checkup in 2 weeks. Second checkup, 2 weeks later. Third checkup, a month after that. And then the day of reckoning, a month later sometime in the middle of January, she will have another Pet Scan. It is this scan that will determine if all that she has been through was successful. It is this scan that will tell the doctors if the cancer was killed or if there is still some present.

It’s this waiting game that will play on our minds over the next three months. It’s this waiting time that our children, friends, and family will continue on their daily lives without the imminent worry they have had during her treatments. It’s this waiting time that the two of us will pretend that life is normal again. It’s this waiting time that will challenge our faith as doubt will try to find a way in.

Hang in there with us these next few months. From time to time; drop Suzanne a note of encouragement; give her a call, share with her in the approaching holidays, but most of all continue to pray for the healing that Suzanne needs.

As for this blog, I want to thank everyone who has been following us along this journey. I plan to continue to write from time to time: Keeping you posted on Suzanne’s healing from her treatments; keeping you up-to-date on the goings-on in the Bruns household; and of course, sharing some of my thoughts or even a ‘Sunday Sermon’ along the way.

Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.
