My Day In Song
One of my strange habits is to associate whatever is going on in my daily life to a song that is appropriate. Sometimes it drives Suzanne to the edge as I burst out into song while making breakfast, weeding the garden, or heading off to church. My very eclectic repertoire consists of mostly country, oldies from the ’40s to ’60s, and some other pretty obscure genres like Irish and comedy. I’ll get into the song and say to Suzanne ‘Singalong’ or ‘join in’ to which she gives me that look of ‘never heard that one before’.
So today, I decide to let you spend a typical day in my head and the songs that come to mind. The link will provide you a listen, and Oh! By the way, Sing along!
This whole event with Suzanne, Rush, and finances has been a challenge mentally. Waking up numerous times in the night has been a common occurrence and most of the time when I finally get up in the morning, I just feel like ‘I couldn’t sleep at all last night’.
Every morning and I mean every morning since we were married, Suzanne and I share coffee together. At home, we share that coffee in bed and watch the morning news. Here in Chicago, on the couch under the blanket is where we share our time, and eventually, I’m ‘On my second cup of coffee’
Walking into the radiation clinic every morning, Suzanne is surrounded by caring people who are there to do the best they can at the job ahead. As she hands me her jacket and they head back to the treatment room I can’t help but tell them to ‘Take Good Care of My Baby’
Mondays were the only day that her treatments took her through the lunch hour. On the other days, we split between eating at the apartment and looking for something unusual to try. Heading back to the apartment isn’t’ a great option since there just isn’t much to do there so most of the time ‘I wish lunch could last forever’
One thing about the two of us, we have always spent time together, at work, in the garden, or on the porch swing. I’m sure there are times when we need to be apart, but generally, we are just ‘happy together’
As I drift off to sleep, my mind takes me to our hopes and dreams of what our life still has ahead. Our plans to travel and see family, and new sights. It’s all I can do not to wake her and ask her to ‘Come fly with me’
Addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart,
Ephesians 5:19
