Part Shark

Part Shark

In searching my genealogy, I have discovered that somewhere in my family’s past I am somehow related to a shark. Like the shark, I have to keep moving whenever I can. On the farm, it’s not hard to satisfy my need for movement. Spending time indoors especially small spaces is not on my list of things I do well. If I’m on vacation, I want to be ‘out and about’ as much as I can. Checkin, drop the bags, and I’m out the door.

Suzanne’s favorite story to explain the affliction I have was on our first trip to Las Vegan for a Sewing Machine Convention. After spending the day in delayed traveling, arriving in Las Vegas late, we finally reached our hotel room around 11 pm Vegas time ( that’s 1 am for those of you in IL ). After dropping our suitcases I asked ‘want to go see what’s going on’ to which Suzanne quickly responded ‘go ahead, have a good time!’

Well, as it turns out, I’m kind of that way here in Chicago. Sitting in our tiny apartment, looking for something to do is not my cup of tea. I can spend a few minutes putting a puzzle together, a few more writing in my daily journal, watch the news for a few more, and then, it’s time to walk somewhere. As it turns out, you can only take the garbage out so many times a day.

I thank the Lord every day for how fortunate I am that Suzanne is mobile and willing to help satisfy my need to be on the move. Since Monday is an all day’er, I’m comfortable with sitting most of the day except for occasional trips to get a Pepsi, talk with the billing department & the restroom. Tuesdays have become the day we walk down to the Taylor Steet restaurants, about half a mile away, this shoots a good 2+ hours that day. So far, Wednesdays we have been on the road home and then get to spend a good 6 hrs there. Thursdays are the only day we don’t have Dr’s appointments after treatment so I’ve designated it ‘Field Trip’ day where we go somewhere in the Chicago area to spend the day. That brings us to Fridays, where we head home again for the weekend. Pretty good planning on my part, huh?

We both look forward to the day when we are both at home on the farm. Suzanne can sit & sew till her heart’s content, and me, I can let my inner shark go.

Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise
