Hump Day

Hump Day

For a variety of reasons, we all celebrate ‘Hump Day’, that day that falls in the middle of a string of days that we are working our way through. The most commonly celebrated is Wednesday, the middle of the workweek, and the day most associated with the term.

Today is Suzanne’s Hump Day. She is officially past the halfway mark with her radiation treatments. Actually, she gets to celebrate two Hump Days this week. On Monday, she passed the halfway point on her Chemotherapy treatments as well.

We had anticipated this hump day to be one of growing pain, slowing metabolism, loss of appetite, and just a growing attitude of despair. In reality, it has turned out to be a day of celebration, yet to fill the narcotic prescription for painkilling drugs, she is still eating normally and overall, in surprisingly great shape for what the doctors continue to tell us of what to expect.

Leading up to today, our attention to Suzanne’s health & nutrition as well as her mental and spiritual attitude has paid off and got us to this point where we are starting down the other side of the treatment mountain in good health & spirits. A big part of her forward-looking positive attitude is related to all the support she has received from her friends & family.

We both know the hard part is yet to come, but being this far into the process before it starts has made this journey more bearable. And so, the countdown clock to the end now becomes more in focus as it doesn’t seem quite as far away.

For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a watch in the night.
Psalm 90:4

  1. Oh I love that Suzanne gets TWO hump days this week! And how great that she is feeling so well! (I think it’s fun to surprise doctors!)

Keep on keeping on my friends! And tomorrow is already Friday!! 😉

  2. God bless Suzanne and John.
