Gotta Laugh

Gotta Laugh

Up here at Rush and on the campus of the University of Illinois, masks are required at all times, indoors or outdoors. Tough one this old guy that loves the fresh air. Beyond that, when you enter the Rush complex even if you have a mask on, you are given a new mask for the day. I guess they don’t want Suzanne’s fancy ones to cause anyone else to be jealous.

Watching her sew during Chemotherapy treatments is a hoot. She is doing an applique quilt which requires lots of pins. If you sew much, you know what you do with pins that you have removed from your project. That’s right, you put them between the lips in your mouth. Try doing that with a mask on. I’ve seen them bounce off and fall to the floor. (Laughing emoji inserted here)

Then, I watched her try and thread her needle. Yep, you got it! Try wetting your thread to get it through the needle with a mask on. I’ve even watched her try dipping her thread in her water glass. (Crying, laughing emoji inserted here)

And I’m sure the learning curve here is going to be long, very LONG. It’s hard to break 50 years of sewing habits in a couple of weeks. Will she learn by the time she’s back home? I’m guessing not, so the betting parlor is open and the odds aren’t in her favor. (double crying, tilted, laughing emoji inserted here)

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 12:2

insert smiley face and praying hands emojis!

  3. John- Do you & Suzanne have mask frames between your face & the mask? They help a lot with breathing… not so much with sewing.
