Not Her Plan
Suzanne’s oncologist called to let us know the nodule in her lung that was biopsied last week was cancerous. He also shared that surrounding lymph nodes were also checked and were clear meaning it is a singular site.
As Dr J continued to speak, our minds just stopped for that moment as a wave of emotion took over; For me, I moved back into caretaker mode thinking of all the questions and scenarios ahead of us; For Suzanne, a total breakdown as this was not her plan.
Although, It’s been three years almost to the day since she endured a surgery that changed her life forever; Surviving a diagnosis that all her care providers thought was not likely; and overcoming challenges her health care support staff found baffling; this was not her plan.
Her plan was to move on from this identifying event, having friends and family move past their kid-glove approach and living the life she had ahead. But now, that plan has had a hard reset, like a stopwatch that someone just hit the button.
In all this, there is a silver lining as Dr. J mentioned, there is no cancer found in her surrounding lymph nodes. This was not what was expected from her original cancer, an aggressive easily metastasized disease. So, in the next couple of weeks, decisions will be made and the hope is that this single spot can be dealt with. Then, with time and recovery, Suzanne can then return to her plan.
Isaiah 28:29
All this also comes from the Lord Almighty, whose plan is wonderful, whose wisdom is magnificent.
