Is my Judgement Clouded

Is my Judgement Clouded

Suzanne keeps pointing out to me that when we listen to Doctors, I hear all the negative stuff and she hears all the positive stuff.   She is concerned that my judgment is clouded.

We make Judgements every day; The amount space to leave between cars when driving; How much time to set the microwave when reheating a burrito; Where to set the shower water handle for the correct temperature. All of these decisions/judgments are based on previous experience, conversations with others, or just plain trial and error.

So what does that mean to have your judgment clouded? A commonly accepted definition would mean that someone can’t think clearly or that their decision process is not functioning normally. In my case, that could be true.

Knowing that decisions we made in Cindy’s care impacted the outcome, being involved in this decision process was a little nerve-racking. Also, I’m a numbers guy, just like the doctors. When they express their expectation and say: by week 2, this will happen; by week 4, that; and by week . . . . . . . My mind is focused on their words and then it works to be ready for what is to be expected.

Through all this, there has been nothing that has made me happier than to see the faces of the Doctors as their eyes widen, their cheekbones rise and if you could see behind their mask, the big smile on their face as Suzanne continues to beat their expectations.

So was my judgment clouded? I’m sure it was at the start; I’m also sure it still was when we hit the middle of the treatment schedule; and I am just as sure it will be until the ‘All Clear’ is sounded.

Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed.
