Hostage Situation

Hostage Situation

“911 – What’s your emergency?” A soft muffled voice on the line answers “Hurry, I’m being held hostage in room 1320 at Rush Hospital, send a SWAT team quickly” That’s the scene that unfolded before my eyes when I arrived at Suzanne’s room today.

Early morning, the ‘Grey’s Anatomy Crew’ did do a scope of the surgery area this morning, took pictures to send to Dr. A, showed Suzanne all that was going on, and made some 8×10’s for the family.

Today a new doctor came in to finally look at Suzanne’s feeding tube that she has been complaining about. Bottom line, after all this time being in the hospital, he has now decided to ‘swap it out’. A procedure that requires a trip to the operating room that won’t take place now until tomorrow.

WAIT, a bright light is heading this way. Is it? Could it be? YES . . . . it’s Dr. A with the news that Suzanne will be discharged tomorrow (we hope). He is happy with the progress she is making and all the surgical areas that he has been watching so closely are moving in a positive direction. He wants her to go home to just rest and heal. Then she will need to be back in his office next Monday.

And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.
Luke 2:10

  1. Ohhhh my, what great news from Dr. A!!! That’s sooo good to read Suzanne & John! I decided I’d check early & see how Suzanne’s afternoon went!
So no “swap” happening tomorrow? Pack that car, John…and don’t SPEED going home! Love E/B

  2. Such wonderful hopeful news! Praying that you BOTH get to go home tomorrow. And John your sense of humor in this situation is amazing. 8 x 10’s for the family. 😂😂😂😂

    1. Thanks Jayne, if you don’t find & enjoy the lighter side of life, it becomes a pretty dark place that we refuse to enter. We are both working as hard as we can to face this with a positive attitude, share our zest for life and our future together.
