Spick – Speck – Spot

Spick – Speck – Spot

When my grandkids were little and we were all going somewhere in the car, they always insisted that I sing the song ‘There’s a hole in the bottom of the sea’. You could feel the excitement and anticipation as the items I was singing about kept getting smaller and smaller . . . . . There’s a spick on the speck on the spot on the hair on the wart on the frog on the twig on the branch on the limb on the log in the hole in the bottom of the sea!

Anticipation for Suzanne’s PATHway follow-up appointment this week did not have quite the same excitement as those days gone by. In her case, the item of concern is a nodule on Suzanne’s lung that in the past eighteen months has gone from a spick, to a speck, to a spot.

PATHway Follow-up #7

Since it was going to be Crazy cold Wednesday morning, the thought of getting up At 4:00 am and heading out in -25 wind chill was just too intimidating. So we decided to forgo the expense and stay the night in Chicago across the street from Rush.

The upside to this decision was a chance to eat supper somewhere new. Forbidden Root Restaurant & Brewery was a fun place to eat with unique menu items. Duck & Dumplings was my choice, and who doesn’t like dumplings? Suzanne had homemade ranch chips that were so good she wasn’t sure there was going to be room for her squash soup. The beer flight was ok, and when we asked for something to take our chips home in, our server brought a take-home box filled with more chips.

A walk across the street was our morning commute for Suzanne’s 8:15 am blood work. It was good to have Mike as her technician again, always cheerful and engaging with his patients who are not here by choice.

The CT Dept. must have been short-staffed or overbooked as her neck and chest CT took longer than usual. Then comes the wait, as results from the blood work and CT have to be ready before her oncologist appointment.

Dr J wasn’t his smiley self as he shared how this lung nodule is finally the size that needs further investigation. He will be discussing options with a pulmonologist and get back to us. Most likely it will
be a biopsy to determine if it is benign, the same cancer as was in her throat, or something new. Once that is known, the next steps will be determined.

For all you faithful prayer warriors out there that have a ‘Casey Kasem Top 40’ list you regularly pray for, take a moment and move Suzanne back to the top 10 for a while. Your efforts in the past have made such a difference in Suzanne’s outcome and we appreciate each and every one of you.

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours

Mark 11:24

  1. We’ll be praying for her regularly. Sorry for this extra anxiety. Keep us posted. God’s blessings, healing, and peace.

  2. As we said this morning, Suzanne, you’re in my prayers every day and will continue to be. God be with you, as always.

  3. Well, if it wasn’t almost 2 AM I would be calling you right now, Suzanne & John, but you both need your rest! Am having trouble with my E-mail server, so just read your entry. I prayed right away for you to feel God’s presence & know you put your Trust in Him to guide the Drs. as they DX & determine IF trmt is needed, etc. You are our TOP Prayer Concern and will call you later today, like “normal” hours! Remember – God knows the “details”. E&B

  4. Bob and I are sorry to hear that. Know the Lord is with her all the time, praying they caught it early enough to remove it. Will continue to pray for her.

  5. Am going to be praying like crazy for her and strength for you Cuz John. The Heavenly Father will be there and all the angels.
Definitely praying for the best. Sending hugs and many many prayers and love. Cousin Peg
