PATHway 13
It’s hard to believe that we have been at this for nine months now. When this clinical trial started, we wondered if it was the right choice, knowing it will be a big commitment and forcing our personal schedule into 3-week increments. Yet here we are, still cancer-free and living the lives put in front of us.
The stars were aligned yesterday as it was the quickest turnaround to date. Leaving home at 6:30, we were back on the road home before noon, not without a little turmoil though. After bloodwork, we were to meet with her Surgeons’ Assistant for a checkup. Arriving at 9:20 for our 9:35 appointment, we knew this would be quick as they usually are ahead of schedule. At 10:15 I finally asked the desk attendant if there was an issue, when she proceeded to head back into the office, returning to say we would be next as they had been waiting on a room. The reality was that this attendant who checked us and gladly took our money then forgot to check the box that said we were in the waiting room. It wasn’t long and we were called back for the appointment.
During our visit this time, we had our first discussions with the Dr. Team about whose decision it would ultimately be to decide to remove Suzanne’s Feeding tube. It has been about seventy-five days since she relied on her feeding tube for nourishment. Each of the team members we chatted with issued the same story, “when Suzanne can maintain the same weight for an extended period, there is no problem taking it out.” So that now is her next goal, maintain her weight so she can have “that thing” removed.
We won’t be back in Chicago now until next year (haha). We are looking forward to this upcoming Christmas season with friends and family. Somehow, this one is even more special than the last. We are back to doing what we love, spending time together, eating together, laughing, talking, watching TV, and just celebrating life.
As a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.
Ephesians 1:10
