Watching Dandelions Grow
When I arrived at Suzanne’s room today and asked how has your day been going, she responded, “just been watching the dandelions grow” The ‘Grey’s Anatomy Crew’ came by and someone asked “has she really been here 14 days” to which Suzanne quickly and clearly answered “YES I HAVE” They all laughed and someone commented “Don’t ask her how many hours it’s been”
They did remove the stitches and extra bandage on her wrist this morning for the first glimpse at that area. You can actually see a tendon at her wrist where they took reconstruction material. They say in time it will heal over. Now all she has is a gauze bandage wrapped with an ace bandage.
The infection around her feeding tube has been identified and a different type of antibiotic has now started. I also learned how to pack the incision hole in her neck today. In checking it, the Dr saw that it has started to close and although it looks huge to me, the Dr assured me it wasn’t. Guess it’s all in your perspective.
Since we still don’t know when she is going home, I’m here another night with hopes of tomorrow. Suzanne said, “I won’t hold my cannula” where we both laughed. Jokes are never funny when you have to explain them but I guess I should this one anyway. The inner Cannula is the tube inside the Tracheotomy that she breaths through, so if she closed it off she couldn’t breathe in essence holding her breath; hence ‘I won’t hold my cannula’. Yea, I guess you had to be there.
Either way, I have to go home Tuesday night so I’m in Iroquois County on Wednesday morning for my second Covid shot. We still are in discussions with the doctors on when they will allow Suzanne to can get her vaccine now that she is eligible.
Dr. A came in late evening as he had a big surgery today. Looking at her throat and neck incision, you can still see and feel the hesitation he has in letting her go home. Where the ‘Grey’s Anatomy Crew’ would have sent her home days ago, her main Dr. and their teacher is demonstrating his wisdom. Just what I want in Doctor.
The HUGE news Dr. A shared was that the surgical pathology report was good. He liked what he read and stated it was as good as it could be expected for her cancer. We all know there are no guarantees, but better words could not have been spoken tonight.
Like cold water to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.

Hello you two it sounds as if little by little they are feeding you both with good news. Praise God. The weather here meaning south of you was windy but very enjoyable. Sunshine always seems to make you feel better no matter how gray it is. Keep up your spirit and keep laughing with each other. Love you both and keeping you in my Prayers 💕🌼🌻
