Ensure Plus with Fiber
Warning: Ensure Plus with Fiber may cause gastric issues including extreme flatulence and diarrhea in some people.
I’m sure if are one of the regulars, you are puzzled by this topic. Well, It’s a public service announcement that I hope my previous training in Search Engine Optimization is written in such a way that Search Engines like Google and Bing pick it up. You see, it’s the ‘With Fiber’ version of Ensure Plus, not regular Ensure, or even the old formula of Ensure Plus that may cause some people problems like it did my wife.
Before Suzanne had a feeding tube, she was drinking Ensure Plus just fine by mouth. Then the feeding tube was placed and she was prescribed another product. That product made her nauseous and gave her some diarrhea so the dietician placed her back on Ensure Plus where she did fine.
Then Abbott Laboratories improved the Ensure Plus and added Fiber which we figured would be a good thing, as I’m sure they did too. As it turns out, the added fiber in the Ensure Plus didn’t agree with Suzanne and resulted in extreme diarrhea again. So back to the regular Ensure Plus we went with no issues.
This post is intended to provide information to anyone who is experiencing gastric problems after drinking Ensure Plus with Fiber and trying to find solutions. It took us some trial and error to figure it out as we were blaming new medicines and other factors before realizing it was the Ensure Plus with Fiber that was causing her gastric problems.
We are hoping that Abbott Laboratories isn’t permanently changing the Ensure line of drinks now to all include fiber. We are suspicious though as the regular flavors of Chocolate and Vanilla in the larger cases are no longer available at a major online retailer.
Bottom line, I’m sure that Ensure Plus with Fiber is a great drink for most people, and the overall product line has been wonderful for Suzanne. But if your experiencing problems after drinking the Fiber version of Ensure Plus, I hope you remember this conversation.
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
