Night & Day

Night & Day

Who starts all the sayings we are familiar with and how do they become part of our everyday vocabulary. My dad was prolific with these types of sayings and will share that at some point. But, ‘The difference is like night and day’ is the one that is appropriate here.

First, let me apologize for not updating you sooner. Sometimes, as my past friend, Lyle would say, “I was up to my waist (not his exact word) in alligators, trying to drain the swamp”

I last shared that when we came home from the hospital and Suzanne had a feeding tube that things weren’t going well but we thought we were on the right track. Actually, they went from not well, to worse. The goal of the feeding tube was to give her the nourishment she needed without the discomfort of eating. That’s not what happened.

As it turned out, after a week of trial and error, the food product that was prescribed for Suzanne’s feeding tube was actually making her sick. After days of not being able to maintain an eating schedule and unable to keep the food down, she lost about 5 pounds. This was the exact opposite effect of what we were trying to accomplish.

On Friday of last week, she changed food products and there you go! “The difference was like night and day.” She was no longer sick and sleeping through the night. Continuing to increase her calorie intake over that weekend until this past Monday when she was receiving her full needed calorie intake. As her strength has increased, so has her attitude & stamina. She is sewing some again, wrapped Christmas presents, and helping around the house more. We even took a drive to go see Christmas Lights. Just a happier person.

Looking forward to a different Christmas, Suzanne hopes to see a limited number of family members as we continue down this journey called life.

And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night
Genesis 1:16

  3. Hurray, hurray! Just the news we hoped for, Suzanne’s improvement. And of course, the other good news is that Jesus Christ was born. Can’t get much better than that! Merry Christmas one and all.
