I spent most of the day writing a post about Day 39, Suzanne’s treatments, what happened, and how She did. The rain stopped long enough for the two us to walk home, although a cool walk it was.

Then, as we opened the door to our apartment, Suzanne exclaimed, “We Got Mail”

Whenever there is mail, the IMBD Guest House staff delivers it under our door. This was the most excitement I had seen all day, mainly because, it was! As she sat there opening card after card, reading every word usually more than once, a tear now and then, she couldn’t stop.

A chuckle came from a friend who continuously sends leftover ‘Thank You’ notes with words of encouragement; A birthday card from her son that opened up into a standing horse because he thought she needed one here in our apartment; a card from her brother & his wife with another horse on it that looked like her beloved ‘Taffy’; Birthday cards celebrating with her; Get well cards wishing her the best; Scriptural cards with favorite verses; Actually it was a pile of cards!

I had just spent the day with this woman, mostly in silence, as we had just plain run out of things to talk about. I see the pain as they poke needles, I feel the anguish as she knows how much farther she has to go. All of that went away just watching her, watching her just sit and read, watching her feel all the outpouring of support, watching her absorb all the love that was sent her way. I couldn’t help but just cry.

Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.
