Happy Birthday Wife

Happy Birthday Wife

Ever since we were married, I affectionately refer to Suzanne as “Wife”. What’s for dinner wife? OK wife, where do you want to go today? Actually not sure if she likes being called ‘wife’, never asked her.

Everyone usually ends up with some nickname for their spouse. Some are cute, some are funny, some can’t be said in public, but all are meant to be a personal connection with your partner.

It’s that personal connection that keeps our marriage alive. For all of our married years, we have worked side by side, on the farm, raising kids, and in Suzanne’s quilt shop. Daily we rode to work together, we made sack lunches to save money together, came home to the family together, and together we shared in the joys of success and the trials of failure. But most of all, we were partners in life together.

Today is her ## birthday, I assume I’m not supposed to tell you that number. Let me just say she is celebrating the 33rd anniversary of her 29th birthday.

Suzanne and her radiation technician had a birthday conversation the other day that went something like this. “So what type of music do you like?” To which Suzanne replied, “Country”. “So do you have a favorite artist?” “George Strait,” Suzanne said. “Oh my! you are old school” “I’ll see what I can do” Yep, old school is a good observation.

Trying to do something special for Suzanne today, you might just be wondering, are you heading out to dinner? Going off to see a new movie? Taking a romantic walk along Michigan Avenue? Nope! Not many restaurants around here are serving indoors, don’t think anything new has been released lately and the weatherman is calling for 35mph winds along the lake. So I decided to find something unusual on Grubhub and order in tonight. Safer for her that way, easier on my mind to care for and protect her.

With all that said, I do want to tell her . . . . ‘Happy Birthday Wife’ I love you to the moon & back and look forward to growing old together.

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24
