Week 3 update

Week 3 update

On Tuesday the 18th, Suzanne has a dentist’s appointment for teeth care. We learned from Peg Boyce that Radiation can cause major tooth decay problems and she referred us to someone she trusts. Our hope is to be pro-active and prevent as much of that as possible. Thanks Lord, for putting another person in our path that will help us on this journey.

Wednesday the 19th, Suzanne will travel to Rush University Medical Center to have her Radiation Mask created. This mask will mold to her head and then be fastened to the table during her treatments so her head does not move. It is critical that her head is in the exact same position each and every treatment.

She also has an appointment with the Chemotherapy team as a pre-op appointment before putting a ‘Port’ in her. This port will allow not just the Chemotherapy technicians but any lab work to be done without jabbing my poor wife’s bruised arm anymore. Most lab technicians run when they see her coming because her veins are so small & roll around.

While we are in Chicago, we plan on looking into housing on the campus of the University of Illinois which is adjacent to Rush Medical Center. The Medical District complex of both teaching, treatments, and hospital care is massive in this area and the ‘Guest House’ not for profit was established for out of town patients. It will give us a place to go daily during the 7-week grind instead of the five-hour round trip there-and-back each day.

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
